NEWS: Giving Architects to help expand Rogare network in New Zealand and Australia

  • Joins Rogare as our latest Associate Member to extend reach into Asia-Pacific
  • Explore ethics of fundraising for independent schools in New Zealand and Australia
  • Ensure that all Rogare’s work continues to be freely available to the fundraising profession globally.

Giving Architects, the leading New Zealand fundraising agency and consultancy who established its Australian team in 2021, is joining Rogare as an Associate Member, with a view to building our Critical Fundraising Network in in Australia and New Zealand, and hopefully extend it into SE Asia and the Pacific Rim. At present we only have a handful of Critical Fundraising Network members from Australia and New Zealand.

Giving Architects would also like to take our work on the ethics of fundraising at independent schools into New Zealand and Australia, which we are current just embarking on in the UK with the Institute of Development Professionals in Education (IDPE). Further down the line there is the possibility of Giving Architects supporting Rogare in collating the theory and evidence underpinning major gift fundraising.

Giving Architects director and CEO Clive Pedley CFRE and director Iyanthi Wijayanayake CFRE will join Rogare’s Critical Fundraising Network, along with their founding partner in Australia, Nigel Harris CFRE, who is already a member of the Rogare network.

Clive Pedley says:

“We have admired the work of Rogare since first coming into contact in 2014. Rogare’s expansive approach to critical thinking in our sector has never been more important than now and so it is a great privilege for Giving Architects to be an Associate Member.  We look forward to supporting specific initiatives, such as the ethics of fundraising in independent schools and contributing more broadly to the international leadership and thinking led by Ian and the team at Rogare.”

Rogare and Giving Architects have always had a good working relationship. Clive Pedley was a member of Rogare’s International Advisory Panel from 2015-20 and in 2016, he was instrumental in the Fundraising Institute of New Zealand (FINZ) bringing Rogare director Ian MacQuillin to the FINZ annual conference to deliver the opening plenary on fundraising ethics. And Nigel Harris CFRE, founder of Giving Architects Australia, is already a member of the Rogare Council.

Rogare’s director Ian MacQuillin says: “It’s fantastic to welcome Giving Architects to the Rogare community. There is so much critical thinking going on in New Zealand and Australia and now we have a partner in the region will help us tap into that while finding a wider audience for our work and ideas.”

Giving Architects join Rogare’s other Associate Members Bluefrog Fundraising (UK), Stephen Thomas Ltd (Canada), Ask Direct (Ireland) and Goalbusters (USA). It is because of the support of our Associate Members that we are able to make all the work we do freely available to the fundraising profession. All Rogare’s reports and outputs are available here.

Associate Members are partners to the fundraising sector or other bodies who share Rogare’s critical ethos and vision about to rethink fundraising. Associate Members are genuine partners in our work, helping us to identify areas of research and plan the publications, events and other outputs that will bring this research to the attention of the fundraising practitioner community.
